Add moisture, then add a little more
Winter hair is thirsty hair. Switch to a richer conditioner, add a weekly mask, and do not skip the mid-lengths and ends where dryness shows first. A few drops of a lightweight oil on damp ends help seal in moisture before you head out into the cold.
Turn the heat down
Very hot showers and very hot tools strip what little moisture winter hair has. Use warm water, lower your iron a notch, and always use a heat protectant. Your colour and your ends will both thank you.
Beat the static and the hat hair
Static is dry hair meeting dry air. Keeping your hair hydrated is the real fix. A natural fibre lining in your toque, or a quick smooth with a drop of oil on your palms, calms flyaways on the worst days.
