Highlights

Highlights are fine sections of hair lightened and wrapped in foil, usually starting close to the root, to add bright, uniform dimension. They give a bigger, more even lift than balayage, which makes them the right choice when you want a lighter, more polished blonde.

Full, partial, or face-framing highlights?

Full highlights brighten all over, partial highlights focus on the top and crown where the light hits, and face-framing highlights lift just around the face. We can also blend foils with hand-painted balayage, a technique called foilayage, for brightness with a softer grow out. At your consultation we map the placement to the look you want.

What to expect

We weave and foil your sections, lift them to the right level, then tone and gloss so the result is bright without turning brassy. Highlights show regrowth sooner than balayage, so most clients refresh every six to eight weeks, and we are upfront about that. We use bond-protecting products and will tell you honestly what your hair can handle in one visit.

Common questions about highlights

What is foilayage?

It blends foil highlights with hand-painted balayage, giving brightness with a softer grow out. We suggest it when it fits your goal.

How many foils will I need?

It depends on how much brightness you want. A full head gives the most coverage, partial focuses on the top and crown. We map it at your consultation.

Can highlights be toned to any shade?

Once your hair is lifted we tone to cool, neutral, or warm. The final tone depends on your starting level, which we check first.

Will the regrowth show quickly?

Because foils start near the root, regrowth shows sooner than balayage. A root shadow can soften the line between appointments.
